When I was 10 years old, I begged my mother to let me enroll in summer school to take typing! I really wanted to be able to type. I don't remember why, exactly, but I was willing to give up a month of summer weekday mornings to gain the skill. My end of the class typing speed was about 24 words per minute, if I recall correctly. I am sure I have the certificate somewhere in the vast archive of flotsam and jetsam, but you'll take my word for it, I know!
In five days, I will start my quilting class!
And I have gathered all my school supplies!
I didn't really have to buy much, I have been to so many estate auctions that I have multiples of just about every sewing tool made in the past 50 years! It was fun to gather everything and check it off the list, though! I did purchase fabric. (that really puzzled The Mister!) Since the class is essentially free (the $20 reservation fee is refunded at the end of the class) I thought I should at least purchase fabric from the shop offering the class.
They are all washed, pressed and in the bag!
As always, I look to
my sister 'Betsy' for inspiration and leadership.

School days! I remember the thrill of purchasing new supplies and getting new books every year. You must have felt the same way gathering everything together!
The last time I took "classes" was knitting felted clog-style slippers. I love taking new classes. Now I live too far away from the nearest yarn shop to really take advantage of those kinds of thing. :(

That is so exciting! How long doe the class last? Will you still be doing it when I get there? What do you make? (Since they have chosen the fabric, I assume they have a finished product in mind.)
I still have a pillow form made for me by Dsis in the 70's, I think it is stained glass windows. That is one area of creativity that I have not mastered..or even tried very hard.
Back-to-school was one of my favorite times -- loved getting new school clothes and supplies. In my mind, it was right up there with some of the lesser holidays.
This is exciting. Do you know what type of quilt you'll be making?
You probably won't need a rug as there probably won't be a 'nap-time'.
Did you notice that the outside of the grade school doors were painted a different color from the inside?
Now that's the BEST kind of school supplies around - for quilt class! I love the fabrics you picked up. I get overloaded too and paralyzed by indecision.
Oooh! Now this looks like fun. I'm curious as to why you bought fabric?? Don't you have mountains of fabric tucked away somewhere? Anyhoo... this is exciting.
